About Our Rugs

Each Hadley James rug is handmade by skilled artisans in India and Turkey, using techniques passed down through generations. Our Oushak-style rugs are crafted from 100% hand-knotted wool with cotton backing, while the Luxe Collection features authentic Turkish pieces woven from pure wool and organic vegetable dyes. Every rug is made entirely by hand — never by machine — which means no two pieces are ever the same.

You may notice slight variations in color, pattern, and size (typically within 1–6 inches). These subtle differences are not imperfections but a hallmark of true craftsmanship — the charm that makes handmade rugs so special.

For the most accurate color reference, we offer color cards instead of cut samples. These cards are designed to help you visualize tones and palettes before purchasing. Please note that colors may appear differently under varying lighting conditions or on different screens.

Care & Cleaning

• Vacuum regularly using suction only — avoid rotating brushes or beaters.

• Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth; do not rub.

• For tougher spots, use a mild dish soap diluted in warm water and blot gently.

• Rotate rugs periodically to promote even wear.

• Avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading.

• Professional cleaning is recommended every 12–18 months.

Because our rugs are made from natural fibers, shedding during the first few months is normal and will lessen over time.

Custom Orders

Most rugs can be customized to the exact size you need. Custom sizes are available in half-foot and whole-foot increments and may add 1–3 weeks to production time. Slight variations in color or size are part of the handmade process and make each rug unique.

Returns

Ready-to-Ship rugs are eligible for return within 30 days of delivery when unused and in perfect condition.
Custom-made and made-to-order rugs are final sale and non-returnable.
No returns are accepted on custom orders or any discounted items.

Returns made within 30 days of receipt will be issued a refund — minus a $250 restocking fee per rug — back to the original form of payment. Please allow 2–3 weeks for processing once your return is received.

Hadley James requires all returned rug(s) be professionally wrapped and shipped by our preferred carriers — FedEx or UPS. Returns not packaged properly or shipped via unapproved carriers may not be accepted.

Hadley James is not responsible for return shipping costs. The client is 100% responsible for all return shipping fees.

If your rug arrives damaged or incorrect, please email shoppe@hadleyjames.com within 5 days of delivery with photos and your order number, and our team will assist you promptly.

Color representation can vary based on lighting, dye lots, and individual screen settings. Color cards are intended as a guide only.

Our photos are never filtered and are taken in natural light. Due to differences in computers and smart-device screens, the most accurate way to view true color is by ordering a color card from our Samples page.
