Our Story

Hadley James began as a simple family project that slowly grew into something much more meaningful. As a mother and her two daughters, Bridget Collins along with Lacey and Ashlyn, we were decorating our own homes and kept feeling like everything we found was either overly trendy or completely impersonal. We wanted pieces that felt warm and comfortable and that had a bit of character to them. Things you could mix into your home in a way that felt easy and natural.

What started as a small lighting project for our own homes naturally grew as we continued to find pieces we genuinely loved and wanted to share. Over time that little project became the foundation for Hadley James. Today we handpick everything from lighting and furniture to linens, dinnerware, and seasonal decor with that same down to earth approach. Our hope is to offer a place where creating a beautiful home feels approachable and enjoyable rather than overwhelming.

The Meaning Behind Our Name

Our name is a tribute to our grandmother and great grandmother, Hadley James, whose story shaped our family’s love of home. She immigrated from County Cork in Ireland to Boston in the early 1900s where she and her husband Patrick opened a small general store and built a life centered around community and family.

When the difficulties of the Great Depression forced them to begin again, they made their way to California where they built homes together. Hadley always made a house feel warm and lived-in, no matter what life looked like. That quiet instinct for creating comfort is something we still carry with us.

Naming the company after her just felt right. Her love of home is something we grew up with, and it’s still what guides us today.

With heartfelt thanks,
Bridget, Lacey, and Ashlyn
