The Hadley James Story

Our Story
Hadley James was founded by a mother-daughter trio—Bridget Collins, along with her daughters Lacey and Ashlyn Wooden. The idea began as we were designing our own homes and realized how limited the lighting market felt. Local stores often offered the same generic pieces, while online options felt overwhelming and impersonal.
We envisioned something different: a curated destination where lighting could feel both meaningful and beautifully made. After many conversations with designers, builders, and friends, we began sourcing pieces that reflected timeless design, character, and quality. What started with lighting has since grown into a broader collection of home furnishings and decor—all handpicked to bring warmth and elegance to every corner of your home.
The Meaning Behind Our Name
Hadley James is named in honor of our grandmother (and great-grandmother), Hadley James, who emigrated from County Cork, Ireland to Boston in the early 1900s. Alongside her husband, Patrick James, she built a life around home—first through their small general store, and then their own home.
When the Great Depression forced them to start over, they headed West to California, where they began building homes together. Hadley had a natural eye for design, and their shared vision laid the foundation for a life of creating meaningful spaces. Their story, resilience, and sense of home continue to inspire everything we do—and naming the company after them felt like the most fitting tribute.
With heartfelt thanks,
Bridget, Lacey & Ashlyn
