Our Story

We started Hadley James because we couldn't find what we were looking for.

Not another trend-driven home store. Not another catalog full of pieces that look good in a photo but feel like nothing in person. We wanted a lamp you'd notice across the room. A table that made you run your hand along it. Things with weight and warmth and a reason for being.

We're Bridget Collins and her two daughters, Lacey and Ashlyn — a mother-daughter team based in Newport Beach, California. Hadley James grew out of our own homes. We were decorating, renovating, and constantly frustrated by the same problem: everything we found was either too trendy to last or too generic to love.

So we started sourcing our own pieces. First for ourselves. Then for friends who kept asking where we found them. Then for a growing community of people who care about their homes the way we do — not as showrooms, but as the places where real life happens.

What We Look For

Every piece in our collection is personally chosen. We don't carry hundreds of options in each category — we carry the ones we'd actually put in our own homes. That means quality you can feel the moment you unbox it. Materials that age well. Designs that don't need a trend to justify themselves.

We work with makers and brands we trust, from hand-finished porcelain lamps to solid brass British lighting by Limehouse that's built to last generations. If something doesn't meet our standard, it doesn't make the cut — regardless of how well it might sell.

The Woman Behind the Name

Our company is named after our grandmother and great-grandmother, Hadley James.

She came to this country from County Cork, Ireland, in the early 1900s. She and her husband Patrick settled in Boston, where they opened a small general store and built a life rooted in community and family. When the Great Depression forced them to start over, they moved to California and rebuilt — together.

Hadley had a gift for making any house feel like home. It didn't matter what life looked like at the time. A table set with care, a room arranged just so, a door always open to neighbors. That instinct — that belief that home matters — is something our family has carried ever since.

Naming this company after her was the easiest decision we ever made.

Why Our Customers Come Back

We hear it all the time: "I finally found a store that gets my taste." Our customers aren't chasing trends. They're building homes with intention — layering in pieces that feel collected over time rather than decorated all at once. They shop places like Serena & Lily, McGee & Co., and Pottery Barn, and they come to us for the pieces they can't find anywhere else.

We offer complimentary standard shipping, personal service (email us — we actually write back), and a curated selection that's tight enough to trust. If it's on our site, we stand behind it.

With love and gratitude, Bridget, Lacey, and Ashlyn
